Winter 2024 FCIAAO Newsletter

2023-2024 FCIAAO EXECUTIVE BOARD

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hello there! As we enter February of 2024, I hope everyone had a great holiday season, mine was good till my beloved Miami Dolphins did their “that’s so Dolphins” nonsense to close out the season. Hope everyone enjoys Super Bowl 58. My prediction is the San Francsico 49ers will win a close one vs the Kansas City Chiefs and the Swifties. Bonus movie list this newsletter! The full list is in the pages that follow, but here are my favorite highlights from 2023 (which may include some things from the small screen).

CHRIS MITTS PPS, CFE

In December we held our annual TPP Seminar, which going forward will be conference instead of seminar. This year had a record attendance of 110 attendees! The TPP Steering Committee put on a fantastic show over two and a half days. We also held another Excel workshop which was geared toward a more general approach, and it was a hit for our members. This same workshop will be offered during our Annual Conference in April. Our very own Kevin Hayes taught the 7-hour USPAP class on Tuesday. Big thanks to Lori Dorian from Pinellas County. As the TPP chair, she and the TPP steering committee set up another great TPP Conference. Our sponsor, Tax Management Associates, provided a great afternoon break on Thursday. Tangible Personal Property is of course the best area at the Property Appraiser’s office and yes, I am biased. With the new year, that means the Annual FCIAAO Conference is right around the corner. This year the event will be held at the Doubletree by Hilton at the Entrance to Universal Studios in Orange County April 17 through 19. Once again, we are happy to welcome The Florida Association of Cadastral Mappers (FACM) to our conference. The FACM session will be on Wednesday, April 17. Please go to their website to find out more. The Steering Committees have put together fantastic sessions for you. We have our conference flyers out now and the full agenda will be available soon. Make sure you book your hotel rooms by March 25 to receive the discounted rate. (cont’d next page) -Godzilla Minus One (Best movie of 2023, will die on this hill) -Oppenheimer (Christopher Nolan does no wrong) -Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (Harrison Ford is forever Dr Henry “Indiana” Jones Jr) -The Super Mario Brothers Movie (Since I got that NES for Christmas, it’s always been Mario time) -Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 -Star Trek Picard (Superior Klingon technology and that scene at the end of episode 9) -Star Wars Ahsoka (I got live action Rebels characters and Thrawn, life is good) -Monarch Legacy of Monsters (it’s Godzilla’s world and we are just living in it)
