SANTA ROSA COUNTY COUNTY SPOTLIGHT Continued Central Santa Rosa, anchored by Milton and the Pace area, offers convenient access to Pensacola and a suburban feel that appeals to families and professionals. It features a thriving commercial corridor and rapidly expanding industrial centers blended with suburban convenience and natural scenery, which contribute to its strong sense of community. The county’s northern expanse offers a distinct change of pace. Characterized by forests, farmland, and winding rivers, this area is home to one of the largest state forests in Florida, Blackwater River State Forest. Its namesake river is renowned for its tannin ‑ rich, tea ‑ colored water and sandy banks, providing excellent opportunities for canoeing, tubing, hiking, and camping.
