MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: TARA PRINCE

What do you do for the PA? I am the Senior Cartographer/GIS Tech. My focus is keeping the ownership layer on our GIS website up to date by processing cuts, consolidations, new subdivi- sions and condos. We also verify legal descriptions on documents, create web ap- plications through ArcGIS.com for the appraisers to use and verify the land size for parcels. We are really starting to get into creating custom web applica- tions with ArcGIS.com and we are always coming up with new features to cre- ate in GIS.

How long have you been employed by the PA? I have been here for 13 years.

What do you like most about your job? I LOVE my job, but my favorite part is the technology. I can’t get enough. I was once told I drink the ESRI Kool-Aid. Where was your first job? Prepping old building permits for scanning and scanning them for the Clerk of Courts. Exciting stuff, right?

Where were you born? Port Charlotte, FL

Where was your best vacation ever? Sapphire Valley, NC. If you’re looking for cool weather in July, I highly recommend it.

What are your hobbies? Fishing, reading and spending time with my guys.

What do you plan to do when you retire? I’d like to travel all over the world and I’ll probably volunteer at a dog rescue.

What advice would you give new employees? They pay isn’t great, but the benefits like health insurance and retirement are totally worth it. You couldn’t ask for a more loyal group of people to work with.
